Dublin & Cliffs of Moher

Hello!

This past weekend, I took a field trip with my UST class to Dublin on Saturday and a day trip with about eight buses of international students at UL to the Cliffs of Moher!

I have no pictures to share with you from Dublin because it was quite cold and windy and I did not want to take my hands out of my pockets to take pictures 🤪

But we went on a historical walking tour and watched the play Dublin Gothic at the Abbey Theatre. The tour included a lot of good information and the guide pointed out a few things of interest, like bullet holes still visible from the 1916 Easter Rising and post boxes painted green, but still featuring English King George’s crest. However, we just walked a few blocks up the main street, so we all agreed we need to go back to see more of the city.

The play…well…let’s just say none of us really know what it was about, even after seeing it. It was centered on one family and one house throughout three time periods, but there didn’t seem to be a moral of a story. It was kind of just a biography of sorts or a narrative with no point to it. Unless we all missed it, which considering how many jokes relating to Irish culture we failed to understand, is probable.

The Cliffs of Moher were breathtaking! We all commented on how the view was unlike anything we’d ever seen before. And we’d all learned our lesson the day before and dressed much warmer, so pictures:

Before getting the Cliffs, we stopped at a cute little town called Lahinch where we got yummy crepes & coffee! There was also a beach, but as you can see below, it wasn’t quite what I picture when I think of beaches…

It was still really cool to see how high the waves splashed up against the rocks!

Leaving the cliffs, we all thought we were heading back to campus when the train of buses pulled over to the side of the road and our bus driver told us we’d have fifteen minutes to explore.

Regardless, it was a fun weekend!
