Hello —<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This weekend I walked 80,000 steps in Edinburgh!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We got in early on Saturday and started in Dean Village. Then, we walked along the Water of Leith river until finding an art museum. After that, we went to the Leith market.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Then, we climbed up to the Edinburgh Castle and started walking down the Royal Mile. We stopped in St. Giles Cathedral and the Writers Museum, both of which were very cool!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also saw this cute dog that was just sitting there looking around while his owner played music. He was so cute! Rally definitely would not have been quite as nonchalant in that situation.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Then we walked down the famous Victoria Street thought to have provided inspiration for Harry Potter! We found the most delicious hot chocolate and coffee at Knoops there!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday, we spent most of our day in the National Gallery. We just walked in to kill some time and ended up spending hours there and even going back after our tour of the Edinburgh Castle. They had paintings from internationally renowned artists, like Monet and Van Gogh, to local Scottish artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My favorite painting is this one called The Regatta<\/em> because I like the colors and I feel like it accurately captures the craziness of race day, even though it is a sailing regatta, not a rowing one.<\/p>\n<\/div>

In between our time at the museum, we toured Edinburgh Castle. It was, I think, the biggest castle I’ve been too and offered gorgeous views over the city!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That afternoon, we walked through the Prince’s Street park, which included gorgeous gardens and an adorable elephant monument for lost children. It also included the largest monument for a writer in the world, dedicated to Sir Walter Scott.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On our final day, my travel buddy, Anya, fell ill, so I had to explore on my own. Luckily, we’d done most of what we wanted to already.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the morning, I went to circus lane and did some shopping in the Stockbridge area (maybe too much shopping…).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That afternoon, I went back to the Royal Mile and this time went all the way down to the Holyrood Palace, King’s Gallery and Scottish Parliament. I didn’t have time to go into the Palace, but I did peak inside the Parliament building, though I thought the exterior was more interesting. Those buildings create a nice laneway to the beautiful, natural landscape behind them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another successful adventure in the books! Edinburgh is definitely a place I want to visit again someday!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
