Before J-term of 2025, when I was supposed to study abroad in Provence, our trip advisor sent an email titled: “Word of the Day: Ambiguity.” The body of the email included this reflection:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I remember before my own J-Term abroad, my professor told us that the word of the trip was “ambiguity.” The definition of ambiguity is a word or expression that can be understood in two or more possible ways. He told us that even the best intentions, travel plans, cultural understanding, etc., might not play out exactly as we’ve planned or pictured, but this doesn’t mean that something has gone wrong–it’s just different!\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

I was reminded of that email this weekend, as I had planned to go to London with a friend, but never made it on the plane. The airline had oversold the flight and there was only one seat left between three of us. So, since both Abigail and I couldn’t go, neither of us went. It was a bit disappointing to start on the hour long bus ride back to campus without having gone anywhere. However, I still had a really fun weekend, despite it not being what I pictured!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday, I went to the Milk Market in the morning, which is similar to the farmer’s market at home. It’s right in the city center and has lots of delicious foods and cute stands! Then, the whole UST group attended The High King’s Rocky Road Concert — shout out to IFSA for providing us free tickets! <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Then, on Sunday, four other girls and I took a trip to Adare, which was about a 40 minute bus ride. It’s the cutest little town ever! And when I say little, I mean it is a very tiny town, like three blocks is the entire town. But it is adorable!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We walked through the town park, stopped into all of the shops along the main street and visited what was once Ireland’s only Trinitarian Abbey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
